Hold the nail file loosely in your hand and place the file at a 45 degree angle under the nail. Then file the nail into shape in a smooth circular motion and move from the side towards the center of the nail. Do not make a sawing motion! This can actually damage the nail plates by going against the curvature of the nail plate. The pressure you put on the nail file while filing determines the strength of the file.

If you use the foot file regularly, you will prevent the build-up of hard skin on the feet.
